Biography

Andres Cortes (born January 23, 1997) is an American professional boxer who remains undefeated in the super featherweight division. Known by his nickname “Savage,” Cortes has built his reputation on an aggressive style, sharp combinations, and the ability to adapt under pressure. Raised in North Las Vegas, Nevada, he entered the professional ranks in 2016 and has since carved out a place as one of the most promising contenders in the division.

Cortes first gained national attention on February 17, 2018, when he comfortably outpointed experienced veteran Fatiou Fassinou on the undercard of Danny García vs. Brandon Ríos. His breakout moment came a few years later, on August 14, 2021, when he shocked former world title challenger Genesis Servania with a brutal first-round knockout in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That victory showcased his punching power and elevated his profile in the competitive super featherweight scene.

Momentum continued to build as Cortes stopped Mark Bernaldez in November 2021 before delivering another eye-catching win against Alexis del Bosque on the high-profile Shakur Stevenson vs. Óscar Valdez undercard in April 2022. In February 2023, he stepped up to his first 10-round bout, defeating Luis Melendez via a clear unanimous decision. Later that year, he captured the WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title with a dominant stoppage win over Puerto Rican contender Bryan Chevalier, further cementing his position as a rising force.

His most controversial fight came in June 2024, when he defeated Abraham Nova by unanimous decision despite missing weight, which rendered him ineligible to claim the vacant WBO-NABO title. While many observers felt Nova had done enough to win, the official scorecards favored Cortes, keeping his unbeaten record intact.
