Biography

Carlos Roberto Cuadras Quiroa (born August 24, 1988) is a Mexican professional boxer who held the WBC super flyweight title from 2014 to 2016. Known by his nickname “El Príncipe”, he has been one of Mexico’s most prominent fighters at super flyweight and bantamweight. As an amateur, Cuadras represented Mexico on the international stage, winning gold in the bantamweight division at the 2007 Pan American Games.

Cuadras turned professional in 2008 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning regional WBC titles before capturing the WBC super flyweight championship in 2014. He made several successful defenses of the belt before suffering his first career defeat in September 2016 against Roman “Chocolatito” González in a twelve-round decision that headlined on HBO Boxing. The fight elevated Cuadras’ profile, despite the loss, as he became part of the celebrated wave of smaller-weight Mexican stars.

He continued competing at a high level, engaging in memorable clashes with fellow world champions and elite contenders. In 2017, Cuadras lost a razor-thin unanimous decision to Juan Francisco Estrada, and in 2018 he was defeated by McWilliams Arroyo in another close bout. Despite setbacks, Cuadras remained a dangerous and skilled presence in the super flyweight division.

Later in his career, Cuadras remained active on the international stage, including a scheduled defense of the interim WBC junior bantamweight title against Andrew Moloney in May 2024. However, he was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury.
