Biography
Huseyin Cinkara (born January 13, 1985), known by the nickname “The Hurricane”, is a German-Turkish professional boxer competing in the cruiserweight division. Standing at 6 ft 3 in and fighting from an orthodox stance, Cinkara has earned recognition for his blend of physical strength, aggressive style, and an impressive knockout rate that has made him a feared presence on the regional and international scenes.
Born in Speyer, Germany, and later settling in Istanbul, Turkey, Cinkara began his career in the amateur ranks, where he claimed a bronze medal at the German national championships. Though not internationally decorated as an amateur, he gained valuable ring experience and developed the resilient, forward-pressing style that would carry him into the professional ranks. His professional debut came at age 31 on June 18, 2016, when he stopped Marko Martinjak in just two rounds, signaling the beginning of a career marked by early finishes and few setbacks.
Cinkara’s breakthrough came in 2018, when he captured the BDB International cruiserweight title with a knockout victory over Yury Bykhautsou. This success led to further honors, including the IBO Continental and WBC Asian titles, as well as the WBA International and German International cruiserweight belts. Along the way, he defeated durable opponents such as Erdogan Kadrija, Gusmyr Perdomo, and Marek Prochazka, while his stoppage win over former world-ranked contender Al Sands in 2022 demonstrated his readiness for higher levels of competition.
Maintaining an unbeaten record, Cinkara has continued to reinforce his reputation with consistent victories. In April 2024, he scored a decisive technical knockout against Armend Xhoxhaj, a bout that secured him an IBF title eliminator victory and positioned him for a shot at the world championship. With most of his fights ending inside the distance, often before the midway point, Cinkara has become known for his destructive efficiency and pressure-based style, which leaves few opponents standing after prolonged exchanges.
