Pedro Taduran

Pedro General Taduran Jr. (born October 29, 1996, in Libon, Albay, Philippines) is a Filipino professional boxer who currently holds the IBF mini-flyweight title, having first won the belt in 2019 and regaining it in 2024. Known for his aggressive, high-volume style and southpaw stance, Taduran has established himself as one of the Philippines’ most durable and relentless fighters in the lower weight divisions.

Taduran’s first world title win came in September 2019, when he defeated fellow Filipino Samuel Salva in historic fashion, marking the first time since 1925 that two Filipinos contested a world title on home soil. Though he would go on to retain the belt in a dramatic technical draw against Daniel Valladares, Taduran lost the title in 2021 to countryman Rene Mark Cuarto. A rematch followed in early 2022, but Taduran again fell short, losing by technical decision.

After rebuilding with domestic victories, including a strong win over Jake Amparo in a title eliminator, Taduran earned another shot at the IBF crown. On July 28, 2024, he reclaimed the world title with a ninth-round stoppage of Japan’s Ginjiro Shigeoka, before defeating him again in a rematch the following year by split decision. These performances reestablished Taduran as a two-time IBF champion and one of the premier names in the mini-flyweight division.
