Shabaz Masoud and Peter McGrail will headline Matchroom Boxing’s return to Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo on December 6, meeting for the European junior featherweight title in an all-British main event.
The 29-year-old Masoud returns to action after a standout victory over Liam Davies, which came more than a year ago. His opponent, McGrail, also 29, has been rebuilding strong momentum with four consecutive wins since his lone career defeat to Ja’Rico O’Quinn in late 2023.
“I was gutted when the fight got postponed the first time around,” said Masoud. “But for it to now be headlining in Monte Carlo, one of the most luxurious destinations in the world – I’m excited. I think it’s going to be a fan-friendly fight and one that will leave a mark on the fans.” McGrail added, “It’s time to shine, baby. I have never been so excited for a fight since my debut. I’m number one.”
The undercard features Beatriz Ferreira defending her IBF lightweight title against Elif Nur Turhan of Turkey. British heavyweight Johnny Fisher will also return to the ring for the first time since his loss to David Allen, now trained by Tony Sims, to face Herbert Matovu of Uganda.
Further action includes an all-British welterweight clash between Conah Walker and Pat McCormack, while Hugo Micallef, representing Monte Carlo, meets Sean McComb of Ireland in a junior welterweight bout. Originally expected to appear, Joe Cordina will instead feature a week later on the Diego Pacheco vs. Kevin Lele Sadjo card in Stockton, California.
