Heavyweight contender Brandon “OJ Bam” Moore will face unbeaten puncher DeAndre Savage at the Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on Friday, September 19. The Salita Promotions card also features Chicago’s Olivia Curry against Australia’s Kaye Scott for the unified WBC and WBA middleweight titles.
Moore (18-1, 10 KOs) is the 6'6" USBA heavyweight champion from Lakeland, Florida, trained by Charles Whittaker. Fresh off an points win over previously undefeated Stanley Wright, Moore leaned into the matchup’s stakes: “DeAndre Savage really doesn’t have a chance… There’s a high chance I’ll get him out before 10 rounds. You might as well start calling me the ‘Savage Killer.’”
Savage (10-0, 10 KOs), from Flint, Michigan, has stopped every opponent and is coming off a two-round finish of Eduardo Santana in January. “I know Brandon from the Olympic trials… I’ve been in camps with top 10 and top 15 heavyweights – Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker and others,” he said. “I’m coming in at about 280 pounds — that’s real horsepower — and I plan on using every bit of it to get the job done.”
On the women’s side, Curry (7-2-1, 2 KOs) returns to 160 after a super middleweight venture against Shadasia Green and promises to “take her in deep waters and drown her.” Scott (4-1, 0 KOs), making her U.S. debut after turning pro in 2023, highlighted her roundabout path into the sport and a deep amateur background: “I’m going to make my country proud and showcase my skills.”
Promoter Dmitriy Salita called the event part of a broader push to restore Detroit as a boxing hub. “The heavyweight division is thriving, and Moore vs. Savage will reshape the future of the division,” he said, adding that the card is “stacked with regional talent” and anchored by the Curry–Scott world championship bout.
