Diego Pacheco is set to receive hometown support once again as he faces Poland’s Maciej Sulecki in a super middleweight bout. The fight, which will serve as a regional title match, is scheduled for August 31 at the Dignity Health Sports Center in Carson, California.
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom chairman and Pacheco’s promoter, expressed confidence in Pacheco's potential for world title contention.
"Diego is banging on the door for a shot at the big guns and World titles at 168. Maciej always brings the action and this is an important night for Diego to keep showing the world that he’s the real deal." Hearn also noted the significance of the venue, recalling Kell Brook's world championship win there in 2014.
Pacheco previously enjoyed a successful homecoming last November, stopping former title challenger Marcelo Coceres in the ninth round at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, close to his South Central Los Angeles roots. He followed that victory with a ten-round decision win over unbeaten Shawn McCalman on April 6 in Las Vegas.

"I’m excited to be headlining at home again. Sulecki is always in good fights... but I feel great about the way my career is heading and I’m looking forward to taking another big step towards a World title shot."
Sulecki, a seasoned contender, has won four consecutive fights since his June 2019 points loss to then-unbeaten WBO middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade. The 35-year-old veteran most recently defeated Rowdy Legend Montgomery on May 31 in Queens, New York.
"After a few surgeries, I’m back at where I should be. On August 31, I will take young Pacheco into deep waters... I am looking forward to headlining on DAZN again in a Polish vs. Mexican brawl!”
In the co-main event, U.S. Olympian Ginny Fuchs (3-0, 1 KO) is set to make her long-awaited return to the boxing ring in a high-stakes bout for the interim WBC junior bantamweight title against Adelaida Ruiz (16-0-1, 8 KOs).
Los Angeles native Adelaida Ruiz will be defending her interim WBC title for the first time, nearly two years after claiming the belt. The 35-year-old has kept herself busy, fighting four times outside the 115-pound limit since winning the title.
The fight also comes on the heels of a recent victory for Ruiz, who secured an eight-round unanimous decision win over Brazil’s Catherine Tacone Ramos on July 20 in San Juan de Tibas, Costa Rica. That fight served as the co-main event to Yokasta Valle’s knockout win, keeping Ruiz sharp ahead of her showdown with Fuchs.
For Fuchs, the August 31 bout represents not just a return to the ring, but a return to top-level competition. The 36-year-old southpaw from Houston has stayed active by participating in the Team Combat League, where she has fought 16 one-round bouts across eight shows in 2024. However, her last sanctioned pro bout was more than 14 months ago—a points win over Indeya Smith in an eight-rounder in New Orleans last June.
