Fight Details

Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach Jr. will collide on December 6 in San Antonio, Texas, in a Prime Video pay-per-view main event that promises high stakes for both men, as the bout will see Cruz defend his interim WBC 140-pound title against the reigning WBA super featherweight champion.

Roach earned widespread respect earlier this year when he fought Gervonta “Tank” Davis to a draw on March 1. For Cruz, this fight represents another chance to build momentum after capturing the interim belt in July by outpointing Omar Salcido in Las Vegas. Both men had sought rematches with Davis, but with the lightweight star pursuing an exhibition bout against Jake Paul, they turned their attention to each other instead.

Cruz’s advisor, Sean Gibbons, believes the Mexican contender has a chance to become boxing’s next major star. “There’s the potential for a new face of Mexican boxing to emerge,” Gibbons said. “This is the moment you fight for, and 2026 is the time for a new face to replace Canelo Alvarez.” With Alvarez recovering from injury and Terence Crawford now holding the undisputed super middleweight crown, Gibbons sees Cruz’s December defense as a pivotal opportunity to claim that spotlight.

Roach’s camp, meanwhile, views the fight as the perfect proving ground. “Lamont’s not getting the rematch at this time, but he wants the big fights and this is the best one he can get,” said ProBoxTV CEO Garry Jonas, who co-promotes Roach alongside his father’s company, No Excuse Promotions. “On this kind of stage against ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, it’s the perfect opportunity to prove that what he accomplished in March is not a fluke and that he’s that guy.”

Both fighters enter their primes and carry reputations for aggression and heart. As Gibbons put it, “It’s all or nothing for these guys.”

In the co-main event, WBA middleweight titleholder Erislandy Lara is now set to face Johan Gonzalez. The matchup changed after WBO and IBF champion Janibek Alimkhanuly was removed from the event due to an adverse result from VADA testing.

Johan Gonzalez (36-4, 34 KOs) had been on standby in case any bout in his weight range lost a participant. A longtime junior middleweight, he enters this chance riding the biggest victory of his career - a 10-round split decision over former unified 154-pound champion Jarrett Hurd in March 2025 in Brooklyn, New York.

His opponent, Erislandy Lara, is boxing’s oldest active male titleholder at 42, jumps straight into a voluntary defense to preserve his return to the ring after nearly fifteen months out. The Cuban veteran last fought in September 2024, when he dominated Danny Garcia before the American retired on his stool after nine rounds. His two defenses that year marked his busiest stretch since 2019.

A strong supporting cast bolsters the undercard, as O’Shaquie Foster (23-3, 12 KOs) will defend his WBC super featherweight title against Stephen Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs), the reigning WBC featherweight champion. The matchup — twice delayed due to main-event complications — gives Fulton the chance to become a three-division world champion, while Foster looks to build on his comeback after regaining the belt in a rematch with Robson Conceicao.

The pay-per-view opens with a battle for the WBC interim middleweight title as Jesus Ramos Jr. (23-1, 19 KOs) moves up to 160 pounds to take on Shane Mosely Jr. (22-4, 12 KOs). Ramos and Mosely were originally scheduled to fight on the canceled October 25 Fundora-Thurman event, making this their long-awaited opportunity to break through in a division searching for new stars.
