Fight Details

The undefeated lightweight contender, William Zepeda, continues his march towards a title shot, with his next bout against the Philippines' Mercito Gesta at The Commerce Casino & Hotel in Commerce, CA on DAZN

This fight will be the third consecutive main event for the 27-year-old southpaw from San Mateo Atenco, Mexico. Zepeda comes fresh off a two-round rout of Jaime Arboleda in April, a bout that was upgraded to the main event following Vergil Ortiz's withdrawal from a planned challenge of WBA ‘Regular’ welterweight titlist Eimantas Stanionis in Arlington, Texas.

Zepeda first made his mark in his initial DAZN main event, earning a one-sided twelve-round victory over the former IBF junior lightweight titlist Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz last October at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Gesta, on the other hand, is coming off his own win over Diaz in his most recent bout. The 35-year-old Filipino southpaw triumphed over Diaz in a ten-round makeshift main event in March at Walter Pyramid on the campus of California State University-Long Beach.
