The November 15 rematch between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be bolstered by another intriguing matchup: Jack Catterall vs. Ekow Essuman. Talks are underway to stage the welterweight clash as chief support, bringing together two fighters who share recent ties to former undisputed champion Josh Taylor.

Catterall, 32, is rebuilding at 147 after a February defeat to Arnold Barboza Jr. He bounced back with a decision win over Harlem Eubank in June, and now looks toward Essuman as a stepping stone back into world-title contention. Essuman, 36, shocked observers in May by retiring Taylor in what was expected to set up Catterall-Taylor III. Instead, Essuman could now take Taylor’s place in that storyline.

“Fight news coming,” Essuman teased on social media Saturday, fueling speculation that the deal is close.

Matchroom is also negotiating a Gavin Gwynne vs. Cameron Vuong rematch, after Vuong’s controversial win last November, and exploring a Conah Walker vs. Blair Cobbs welterweight bout for the undercard.

If finalized, Catterall-Essuman would add a grudge-tinged subplot to one of the UK’s biggest events of the year, making Eubank-Benn II a card layered with both rivalry and redemption.
