Former WBC junior flyweight titlist, Pedro Guevara (40-3-1, 22 KOs), gave a masterclass performance against Miguel Herrera (22-6-5, 8 KOs) at Centro de Eventos Figlostase in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico.

In terms of class and ring knowledge, Mazatlan-born Guevara outclassed Herrera. Guevara kept Herrera at bay with a consistent jab and right hand. He faced a minor setback in the second round when a cut was produced over his eye after a collision with Herrera's shoulder, but he regained his momentum soon after the ringside doctor's inspection.

Herrera's robust chin was on display as he absorbed clean right hand shots from Guevara, who had control of the fight from the second round onward. Despite taking a considerable beating, Herrera managed to land a few punches and go the full ten-round distance, falling to 22-6-5 with his third consecutive defeat.

Guevara, who advanced to a 40-3-1 record with this win, last lost in October 2017 against WBC junior flyweight champion Kenshiro Teraji. Despite facing setbacks in the past, Guevara seems ready to chase a title eliminator or perhaps even a title shot against lineal/WBC junior bantamweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada.
