Claressa Shields has officially had her recent suspension lifted by Michigan boxing authorities. The undisputed heavyweight/middleweight champion shared the news on social media, revealing that the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs have dissolved her sanction from earlier this year.

Shields was initially suspended following a positive marijuana test after her February 2 unanimous-decision victory over Danielle Perkins. Citing “imminent threat to the integrity of the sport” and safety concerns, the commission moved swiftly to remove her from active competition. However, Shields attended a compliance conference on March 6, where she presented evidence that her actions no longer posed any risk to fighters or the public interest.

An official order dated March 14 made clear that Shields could immediately return to competition. She remains an undisputed champion in two weight classes and one of the most prominent women’s boxers in the sport. Emphasizing her innocence, Shields took to social media with the hashtag #freeClaressaShields.
