International Boxing Hall of Famer and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao has officially launched Manny Pacquiao Promotions in the United States.
“It is an honor to bring Manny Pacquiao Promotions to the U.S.,” Pacquiao said in a press release. “Some of my most unforgettable moments happened inside American rings. Now, I want to help create those same moments for today’s fighters. Through talent-stacked events and an elite platform, we’ll showcase the rising stars and seasoned warriors ready to capture the world’s attention.”
Pacquiao’s longtime advisor Sean Gibbons will serve as President of the company, while Tony Cohen will act as CFO and Vice President, overseeing development of an independent pay-per-view platform. Brendan Gibbons has been appointed lead matchmaker.
“MPP is committed to becoming the world’s leading boxing promotional company,” Sean Gibbons stated. “We’re creating a new standard in fight promotion - and it all starts now.”
According to the release, the company already has two title bouts and another significant fight scheduled for November, with additional events set to be announced soon.
Pacquiao, who returned from a four-year layoff in July, nearly became the second-oldest champion in boxing history at age 46 when he fought Mario Barrios to a majority draw for the WBC welterweight title. While no next fight date has been confirmed, Pacquiao has indicated his intention to continue competing.
