Mike Tyson has once again shared his admiration for one of boxing’s brightest stars - and surprisingly, it’s not Terence Crawford. The former heavyweight king believes WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez is the one current world champion who could go through his career without tasting defeat.
Tyson, who became the youngest world heavyweight champion at just 20 years old when he stopped Trevor Berbick in 1986, knows what dominance looks like. After unifying the heavyweight division by defeating James Smith and Tony Tucker, Tyson’s reputation as an unstoppable force was built on fear and power.

Speaking to ESNEWS, Tyson didn’t hold back in his praise. “I like him against everybody,” he said. “He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, and I’m talking facts.”
Benavidez, who was recently elevated from interim to full WBC light heavyweight champion after Dmitry Bivol vacated the belt, now carries the torch as one of the sport’s most dangerous fighters. The 28-year-old American will put his title on the line against Britain’s Anthony Yarde at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on November 22, where he will prove whether Tyson’s prediction holds true.
