The WBC has officially mandated a rematch between Robson Conceicao and O’Shaquie Foster for the junior lightweight title following the controversial outcome of their initial bout earlier this month.

Conceicao won the WBC title from then-champion Foster at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey, on July 6, via a split decision. The fight seemed easy to score, as Foster appeared to dominate most of the match by outboxing Conceicao and taking minimal damage. However, to the surprise of Foster and many observers, two judges scored the fight in favor of Conceicao.

"I thought it was a shutout," Foster said after the fight. “I thought it was an easy fight, I didn’t get touched except for a headbutt. I’ll be back, I want the rematch, of course, I want the rematch, they stole this fight from me. I wanted to show the world that I can bang it out and if I want to I can’t be touched – it obviously wasn’t good enough for the judges."
