Tim Tszyu has responded to a difficult run of defeats by restructuring his career and unveiling what he calls the “Aussie Super Team.” The 30-year-old former WBO super-welterweight champion suffered his third loss in four fights when Sebastian Fundora stopped him in their July rematch, forcing Tszyu to rethink his direction.

Once viewed as the heir to his father Kostya Tszyu’s legacy, “The Soul Taker” saw his title reign cut short by Fundora, then endured a crushing loss to IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev. Though he briefly bounced back by stopping Joseph Spencer, the Fundora rematch again left him short, as he was pulled out after seven rounds.

In an announcement shared on Instagram, Tszyu confirmed his new team: matchmaker Mike Altamura, manager Darcy Ellis, and Australian boxing great Jeff Fenech in an advisory role. Tszyu described the move as a reset, saying, “I’m coming in with a whole new, different mindset… everyone is just going to come on board and witness history.”

Altamura will act as a matchmaking strategist, Ellis as manager, while Fenech, a three-division world champion, will serve as a mentor. The changes also mark the end of Tszyu’s long relationship with trainer Igor Goloubev, who guided him from his amateur career through every professional bout to date.

Although grateful for Goloubev’s role in his development, Tszyu explained that he felt it was time for “a little change,” calling this next stage of his career “2.0.” Over the coming months, he plans to train in the United States while searching for a new coach capable of steering him back toward a world title.
