The Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis exhibition will come with serious world title action on its undercard. Five fights were announced for November 14 at Miami’s Kaseya Center, with Ellie Scotney facing Mayelli Flores for the undisputed super bantamweight crown and Yokasta Valle defending her WBC strawweight title against Yadira Bustillos.
Scotney of the UK enters as the IBF, WBC, and WBO champion, while Mexico’s Flores puts her WBA belt on the line. The matchup will determine the division’s first undisputed queen. Scotney unified three titles in July by outpointing Yamileth Mercado, while the 33-year-old Flores captured her strap in May, edging Nazarena Romero. Both fighters spoke of legacy, with Scotney declaring this bout the “final and most important step” in her quest, and Flores promising to “make history” as Mexico’s first female undisputed champion.
Another women’s title fight will see Costa Rica’s Yokasta Valle defend her WBC strawweight belt. Valle, a three-division champion, won the title in May against Marlen Esparza and now looks to begin her reign on MVP’s debut show with Jake Paul. She meets Yadira Bustillos, a 25-year-old from Las Vegas making her first title bid after a February stoppage of Tamara Elisabeth Demarco.
“I fight with the pride of Costa Rica on my shoulders,” Valle said, while Bustillos vowed she is “not here to compete, but to conquer.”
Both contests will air as free prelims leading into the main Netflix broadcast, setting a serious tone before the crossover spectacle of Paul and Davis takes center stage.
